Female comedy has always been around, but it just hasn’t gained the popularity that its male counterpart has. However, even female comics have started to gain recognition as more female comic books and television shows become available to the masses. With all the buzz of female comedians being featured on TV and in movies, many female comedy fans are now looking for more comedy artists. Female comedians are starting to make their presence known by hosting small comedy nights. Others have released a number of CDs and DVDs that feature standup comedy, which has been hugely popular with female comedy fans.

Comedy is a great way to express oneself and make others laugh. Although female comedians can be funny, they often face the same problems as men when trying to be funny. Many female comedians find it difficult to be funny because they are usually forced into the roles of the butt jokester or the wacky sidekick. Women often find it hard to break these roles when they are not naturally funny; sometimes it takes them a long time to become comfortable doing these types of roles.
